U.S. Foreign Waterborne Transportation Statistics

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today released the November 2003 preliminary U.S. foreign waterborne transportation statistics. These statistics are based on the U.S. Bureau of the Census trade data matched to the U.S. Customs vessel entrances and clearances, enhanced by the U.S. Maritime Administration. Year-to-date figures through November 2003 show an increase in volume of 8% for imports and a increase of 0.2% for exports over the same time period for 2002. The following cargo summary contains value and weight information by type of service on U.S. waterborne imports and exports for November 2003, along with year-to-date figures. Inbound and outbound in-transit data are not included.
