U.S. Foreign Waterborne Transportation Statistics

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today released the March 2004 preliminary U.S. foreign waterborne transportation statistics. These statistics are based on the U.S. Bureau of the Census trade data matched to the U.S. Customs vessel entrances and clearances, enhanced by the U.S. Maritime Administration. Year-to-date figures through March 2004 show an increase in volume of 12% for imports and an increase of 9% for exports over the same time period for 2003. The following cargo summary contains value and weight information by type of service on U.S. waterborne imports and exports for March 2004, along with year-to-date figures. Inbound and outbound in-transit data are not included.
